Your alpine base in summer
Summer
Hiking, cycling, and water at Lake Resia - the Upper Vinschgau in summer.
The Waalwege begin right at the door, the Via Claudia Augusta cycle path starts at Mals station, Lake Resia lies just under 20 minutes away, and to the south rises the Ortler massif - in summer, the Upper Vinschgau is a starting point for hikes, bike tours, and water.
Biking
Via Claudia Augusta
The signposted long-distance cycle path along the Etsch follows the route of the historic Roman Via Claudia Augusta: from Mals station via Glurns, Schluderns, Prad, and Laas to Meran - easy, mostly paved, and largely downhill. Learn more ↗
Mountain-biking trails
Vinschgau is considered one of South Tyrol's densest mountain-biking regions - from flowing Waalweg combinations to technical singletrack, with around 2,500 metres of elevation to play with between the valley floor and the passes above. Classics such as the Morterer-Leger loop near Schlanders sit alongside big names like the Uinaschlucht and the Goldseetrail. Trailforks and Trails.de offer further route suggestions for the region.
3-Länder Enduro Trails
A cross-border trail network laid out since 2014, spanning four cable cars (Schöneben, Haideralm, Mutzkopf, Bergkastel) through Austria, Italy, and Switzerland - from flowing to technically demanding trails, conveniently reached by lift. Learn more ↗
Uinaschlucht Three-Country Tour
From Glurns via Laatsch, Burgeis, and Schlinig to the Sesvennahütte, through the spectacular Uinaschlucht gorge cut into the rock and into Switzerland, then back via Scuol, S-Charl, and the Münstertal. In the gorge the bike is pushed rather than ridden - suitable only for fit, technically skilled riders, and don't forget ID for the Swiss border. Learn more ↗
Goldseetrail
A legendary old military road from the Stilfserjoch (2,757 m) down to Prad - once part of the First World War front line. Gravel, roots, and rock alternate, with a stop partway at the Furkelhütte. A shuttle saves the climb up the 48 switchbacks to the Stilfserjoch. Learn more ↗

Water

Kitesurfing at Lake Resia
The surrounding mountains channel reliable north and south winds (the Venturi effect) - flat water, hardly any waves, and plenty of room to launch make Lake Resia ideal for learning.
